Globalization
- Internet Marketplace
Sounds great.
Everybody would love to do business with you. But, well,
could we have the details in Thai please?

Statistics
are clear: by the end of 2001, English will still be the single most
used language on the web. BUT, more people will surf the web in a
large number of other languages than in English.
Already today, even the majority of visitors to English-language
sites are not native English speaker.
|
|
And that is only part of
the problem. Do you know which parts of your site will offend a
Malaysian? Could it be that your style of writing that was a
smashing success in the U.S. and Europe is almost insulting in the
Far East? Did you know that certain shades of red and purple are
considered extremely unlucky?

TO
SUCCEED IN THE GLOBAL MARKET PLACE, YOU WILL HAVE TO LOCALIZE
YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE TO FIT YOUR TARGET MARKET.
OR CAN YOU AFFORD NOT SELLING TO 600'000'000 SOUTHEAST ASIANS
???
CyberFrontier
U2Networks:
Customers on four continents,
site support in eight languages.
WE
CAN HELP YOU SUCCEED |

|
Of course, the door
swings both ways; you are trying to sell your products to an
American and European market? Why on earth didn't you have the
courtesy to employ a copy writer, or at least have your site
proofread? Your cousin might have a degree from overseas, but does
he use the same type of expressions and structure his sentences the
way a native English-speaker would ?
